Welcome to Journey Church, the Dunedin congregation of the Wesleyan Methodist Church of New Zealand. The following is a brief statement of our beliefs:
- We believe in God the Father, Son & Holy Spirit.
- Jesus Christ is the Son of God, born of the Virgin Mary, who died to save us and physically rose again. He is seated at the right hand of God and will come again to establish His kingdom.
- The Holy Spirit is the means by which God’s purpose is
communicated and brought about in the world. - The Bible is the inspired Word of God.
- All have sinned and are separated from God. Salvation comes only through Jesus Christ to those who repent and believe in Him.
- All people will be judged by God and those who have accepted His gift of salvation will live with Him forever.
- It is God’s will for everyone to be empowered by the Holy Spirit.
- Jesus Christ ordained two sacraments, Baptism and Holy
Communion. - Every believer has a strategic and vital place in the ministry.
- God is both willing and able to heal. Prayer for the sick and anointing with oil are scriptural and encouraged within the Body.
- We encourage the exercise of the gifts of the Spirit in accordance with the guidelines laid down in the scriptures. As such, the prophetic word is welcome for the building up or encouraging of individuals or the congregation. Those who believe they have a word of a more instructional nature, should speak to the individual concerned quietly, and not from the front.
- Jesus Christ will return and this is a powerful inspiration to live a holy life and an incentive to obey the Great Commission.
